Pure Moroccan Henna from Foum Zguid
Sun Henna sources its henna directly from Foum Zguid, in southern Morocco, where the Anti-Atlas mountains meet the edge of the Sahara. We have followed this supply chain for over two decades. The henna plant, Lawsonia inermis, thrives here in harsh sun, dry soil and temperatures above 35°C.
The harvest follows the plant: five harvests a year, every two months from 25 March, with a winter rest after 25 November. Farmers hand-pick the leaves at their peak, dry them in the sun without scorching them, then mill and sift them into a fine, silky powder. No fillers, no artificial dyes, no PPD.
The colour comes from lawsone, a natural molecule in the leaves that binds to the keratin in skin and hair. Natural henna starts orange and deepens to a warm reddish brown over 24 to 48 hours. Never black, never instant.
